GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A former general manager of a Green Bay bar has been charged with embezzling $50,000.
Nicholas Petasek, 33, faces one count of theft of a business setting. According to the criminal complaint, Petasek worked at Anduzzi’s on Kepler Drive on Green Bay’s east side, until April 2022.
The bar’s owners told police they discovered about $25,000 missing from bank deposits and roughly $25,000 missing from the bar’s ATM.
Business owners told police that when they confronted Petasek, he said he had simply not deposited money from the safe to the bank. When Petasek was told that the money was not in the safe, either, business owners told police he put his head down and did not say much more.
Anduzzi’s owners told police they gave Petasek one week to pay back the missing money or they would press charges. They said they did not hear anything from his after that.
The criminal complaint does not include any statement directly from Petasek.
Petasek is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon.
If convicted, Petasek faces up to 10 years in prison.
