GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Demolition has begun after a vehicle crashed into a building on Green Bay’s east side over the weekend.
The Main Street Commons, 1263 Main St., partially collapsed Sunday night. Part of Main Street has been closed since then.
Several businesses were housed in the building.
The suspected driver, Merissa Reed, 29, of Green Bay, has been charged with reckless driving causing great bodily harm, bail jumping, and knowingly operating a vehicle with a suspended license. She appeared in court Tuesday.
A passenger in Reed’s vehicle suffered injuries to his hip and pelvis, according to the criminal complaint.
Reed told police that she was cut off by another driver and lost control of her vehicle.
The crash was one of two in Brown County over the weekend that highlight what authorities call a “growing problem” of reckless driving.
