Brown County United Way and Proctor and Gamble gather for “United We Can” Food Sculpture Challenge. June 20, 2023.
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Brown County United Way and Proctor and Gamble are making a difference in the community through United We Can; a food sculpture challenge held Tuesday at Capital Credit Union Park – home of the Green Bay Rockers.
The two organizations created the annual event 3 years ago as the COVID-19 pandemic presented a need for canned food donations.
“We have around 2,000 cans. On Wednesday night, fans have the opportunity to bring in their own cans to get a ticket to come to a future game,” said Cierra Ivey with Brown County United Way. “So we will have 2,000+ cans to give back to the community.”
Brown County United Way contributed 1,000 cans, and Proctor and Gamble contributed another 1,000 cans. Their stock consisted of corn, peas, and green beans. The teams spent Tuesday afternoon making sculptures out of their cans. P&G made a baseball field out of their cans; Brown County United Way spelled out “BCUW starts with U”.
“Proctor and Gamble is all about improving the lives of our consumers,” said Jack Hendrick, Manager of Proctor and Gamble. “And what better way to do that then get directly involved in a partnership with United Way so we can get our dollars, cans, and donations outreached across the community where they belong?”
The Green Bay Rockers are honoring Brown County United Way on Wednesday; when spectators can bring their canned good donations and get a free ticket to a future game.
