BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A now-former Green Bay YMCA member is suspected of filming a child in a family locker room this past April at the west-side’s YMCA.
The Greater Green Bay YMCA sent out a message to its Greater Green Bay YMCA members on Wednesday, saying the person’s membership has been terminated and they have been banned from all YMCA properties and events.
Green Bay police officers, as well as YMCA staff, have conducted a search of the entire property to ensure there were no recording devices. None were found, according to the YMCA.
The YMCA says it is working with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office and have communicated directly with the involved family. It says it can confirm that this was an isolated, non-targeted incident and that there is no danger to members, staff or public.
The YMCA issued a statement saying, in part:
Our hearts are with everyone impacted by this situation. That any member’s or staff’s privacy is violated is unacceptable—this is especially true for children. We will do everything in our ability to ensure nothing like this happens in the future.
Anyone with information related to this situation is encouraged to contact Sgt. Matthew Wilson at (920) 448-6192 or matthew.wilson@browncountywi.gov.
