ALGOMA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A police presence will be at Algoma schools Wednesday after it was reported that a person was seen driving through the high school parking lot with a firearm.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Office says it received the report around 6:30 a.m.
Local authorities began to investigate immediately.
While investigating, a student came forward and shared that another student brought a paintball gun to school. The intentions behind the incident remain unclear, but authorities and the school district say they are taking this matter seriously.
As a precautionary measure, police officers will be stationed at both the elementary and high school campuses Wednesday.
