(WTAQ-WLUK) — According to multiple reports, the New York Jets are finalizing a four-year, $44M deal with free agent wide receiver Allen Lazard.
Lazard is coming off his best season with the Packers, finishing with 60 catches for 788 yards and six touchdowns.
After the final game of the regular season on January 8th, Lazard was asked about the possibility of it being his last game as a Packer.
“Definitely going into the game I kind of had a realization that my first game here and potentially my last game, which it is, was going to be versus the Lions at home. I took just a few minutes just to kind of, soak it all in,” Lazard said.
This news comes as the Jets continue to pursue a trade for Aaron Rodgers.
ESPN’s Dianna Russini reported Tuesday that Rodgers supplied the Jets with a wish list of players he wanted to join him in Florham Park.
The list included his free agent Packer teammates Lazard, WR Randall Cobb, TE Marcedes Lewis and free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr., who was recovering from a knee injury and did not play during the 2022 season.
Lazard is the first domino to fall.
Lazard entered the NFL in 2018 as an undrafted free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Packers signed him off the Jaguars practice squad late in the 2018 season.
