UNDATED (WSAU) A Fox Business Network poll confirms that Ted Cruz has opened a large lead over Donald Trump leading up to the Wisconsin GOP primary next Tuesday.
Ted Cruz leads Donald Trump 42 to 32 percent among likely voters. John Kasich comes in third with 19 percent.
Among just those who say they will “definitely” vote, Cruz’s lead over Trump widens to 46-33 percent, and Kasich gets 16 percent.
The poll also shows a large gender gap. Women back Cruz over Trump by a 19-point margin, 46-27 percent.
Cruz has a very large lead among self-described “very” conservative voters, 61-percent to 25 percent Trump. Independents can vote in Wisconsin’s open primary — and are more inclined to back Trump (37 percent) than Cruz (26 percent) or Kasich (26 percent).
In the Wisconsin Democratic primary, Bernie Sanders leads Hillary Clinton, 49 to 43-percent.
The results mirror a Marquette University Law School poll from earlier this week, which also shows Cruz and Sanders leading in Wisconsin.
