KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – All pets were safely removed after a grease fire got out of control at a Kaukauna duplex.
Crews were called to 102 E. Ann Street around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday after the tenant called 911.
Officials say the tenant was preparing dinner when hot grease splashed onto the cabinetry and caught fire.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames, containing the damage to the kitchen.
No one was hurt and nine reptiles were safely removed from the home.
The kitchen sustained about $20,000 worth of damage and the rest of the home had some smoke damage.
The public is reminded to always use caution when cooking with grease and never leave cooking materials unattended.
