FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac man was convicted of charges stemming from a fire bombing and a separate domestic incident with his mother.
Jonas M. Johnson, 24, was convicted on three felony charges in the July 2016 fire bombing at a residence on Doty Street.
According to the complaint, Johnson was paid by another person to put a bomb in the mailbox in retaliation for a drug theft.
Four people were inside the residence at the time and one person was hospitalized after the explosion.
Then in May 2022, Fond du Lac officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of Highland Court for a report of a domestic incident between a mother and son.
Investigators say Johnson’s mother came home from a trip aboard and got into an argument with her son. The argument escalated to Johnson throwing various items around the home and damaging them. Johnson also grabbed the glasses off his mother’s face and crushed them, the complaint reads.
Johnson was convicted on damage to property and disorderly conduct charges in the incident involving his mother.
Johnson faces a maximum sentence of more than 40 years in prison and 30 years of extended supervision for charges in both incidents.
A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered by the court.
