GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A request in Governor Tony Evers’ 2019-21 capital budget proposal includes $2 million toward a new visitor center in the Green Bay area.
The Greater Green Bay Convention & Visitors Bureau announced plans for a new building last fall, which would be built just west of Lambeau Field in the area of intersection 41 and Lombardi Avenue.
The budget proposal reads in part:
“Information on Greater Green Bay, the Northeast Wisconsin region and all of Wisconsin will be provided in person by highly trained staff and high-tech digital displays, as well as through the distribution of printed take-away items. It will inform and market the tremendous opportunities available to live, work and play in Wisconsin and Greater Green Bay to the guests.”
It’s expected for construction to begin this spring and for the building to open in summer 2020.
On Thursday, it was released that the proposed $2 million is part of Governor Evers’ capital budget proposal, but it does have to pass both the state building commission and the Legislature’s budget-writing committee.
