GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – An agreement to stay away from each other has been made for parents who got into a physical fight at a youth wrestling tournament in Kimberly last month.
Shannon and Nicole Volkman of Shiocton agreed to avoid Cassandra Hamill of Green Bay for the next decade and not to speak to each other if their kids have to wrestle each other.
The parents were caught on video fighting after their kids finished wrestling a match against each other.
They agreed to drop the injunction requests as part of a five-page deal filed in court Thursday.
According to the terms of the agreement:
- “The parties agree to avoid and not have contact with each other and with each other’s immediate family members, employers, and schools, including contact at their respective residences, work, school, public places, in person, by phone, in writing, by electronic communication or device, or in any other manner or causing any person other than Parties’ attorneys for law enforcement to contact each other.”
- They may be in the same public place “for the purposes of supporting and encouraging each of their own children and respective wrestling clubs, teams, schools, and organizations”
- “The parties will also be allowed to be present at all wrestling meets for their children; however the parties agree that they are not allowed on or near the wrestling mat if at any time the Volkman and Hamill children are wrestling each other.”
- “If the parties’ children are participating in the same match, the parties agree not to be near the mat and will stay in the stands. In addition, during a wrestling match between the parties’ children, the parties agree not to make any comments and to remain silent during said match.”
The deal was reached on a compromise basis.
If anyone violates the terms of the deal, the other party can ask the court for a restraining order.
The deal expires March 7, 2029.
