HOBART, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – If you’re driving along Highway 29 near the Village of Hobart, you may see some new developments happening around the area.
Within the last couple of years, Hobart has become one of the fastest growing communities in Northeast Wisconsin.
“Where you and I were standing 10 years ago it was a farm field, the whole area was about $5 or $6 million tax base and now we are up to $150 million,” said Village Administrator Aaron Kramer.
Kramer tells FOX 11 that since 2010 the village has experienced a 50 percent increase in population and more than 900 housing units have been built in Centennial Centre as a result.
“We’ve seen a real big explosion this spring with two new apartment complexes, our first condo project, an expansion to the senior living complex, it pretty much covers all demographics up here.”
Which is good news for business owners located in Hobart’s downtown area, many said they’re looking forward to the increase in business once the construction is done.
“It’s very exciting! Every time I look up there’s another pile of dirt because they’re starting to build a new building and its ramped up even in the two years that we’ve been here,” said Dr. Tracy Kusik the owner of Trout Creek Veterinary Center, LLC.
The village is looking to develop more than 70 acres of land of the next few years, and are already questions about what will be built next.
Kusik tells FOX 11…
“We’re still waiting for some coffee shops, maybe a restaurant, or Kwik Trip but every little growth is good.”
The village is actively seeking proposals for the development of their property, and you should contact the administrator with any questions.
