HORTONVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – State transportation officials say they have plans to make a stretch of highway in Outagamie County safer after two recent fatal crashes.
The Wisconsin DOT will focus on WIS 15 from US 45, near New London, to Lilly of the Valley Drive in Greenville.
The plans come after a 10-year-old boy died in a crash on 15 last week and a 31-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash earlier this month.
The planned improvements include:
Increasing law enforcement patrols on WIS 15 beginning Monday, May 20th
Deploying speed trailers on WIS 15
Refreshing pavement markings
Assessing signing and traffic signal timing along the corridor
Also, the DOT says it is currently developing a schedule for construction of the $137 million Hortonville bypass, which includes expanding WIS 15 into a four-lane divided highway.
