APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The body of an Appleton Firefighter killed in the line of duty after a shooting Wednesday will be returned to Appleton.
A funeral procession from the Milwaukee Medical Examiner’s Office to the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel in Appleton will occur Thursday afternoon.
The processional is expected to arrive in downtown around 12:30 p.m.
The route will include streets in the downtown are:
West on W. Highland Avenue/US-18 W toward 10th Street.
• Turn right onto N. 12th Street.
• Turn left onto W. Walnut Street
• Take WI-145 W
.• Merge onto 1-41N/US-45 N/41N toward Fond du Lac.
• Keep left to take 1-41/US-41 N toward Fond du Lac.
• East on College Avenue.
• Turn left on N. Drew Street.
• West on Hancock Street.
• South on Oneida Street to 606 N. Oneida Street.
Many members of law enforcement lined the streets when the body was being transported to Milwaukee Wednesday night.
Appleton Police will hold a press conference to release more details about the shooting at 2:00 p.m. at Police Headquarters.
