GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Two men have been arrested after allegedly reselling high-mileage cars by manipulating the odometers.
Green Bay Police say they began their investigation in May.
The men would purchase high-mile vehicles, reprogram the odometer to show lower mileage, and then sell them to unsuspecting buyers for a profit, according to officers.
On June 3, both 34-year-old Robert Solberg of Allouez and 37-year-old Joshua Taylor of Green Bay were taken into custody.
Formal charges have not been filed in the case, but Green Bay PD is recommending forgery and theft by fraud charges.
Two victims have already come forward and police suspect there are more, possibly as far north as Crivitz and far south as Fond du Lac.
Anyone who purchased vehicles from the two are encouraged to call Detective Waln with the Green Bay Police Department at (920) 448-3208 and if you wish to remain anonymous, you can call the Green Bay Area Crime Stoppers (920) 432-7867.
