GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – You’re going to be paying more for utilities this winter. Base rates in Northeast Wisconsin will be going up, but not as much as Wisconsin Public Services had wanted.
Earlier this month, WPS and WE Energies requested a base rate increase.
The base rate is what customers pay to have heat and electricity in their homes and businesses.
The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin met to discuss this in a meeting Thursday.
WPS was proposing a $14.51 increase per month for residential customers. However, the commission’s decision will result in around a $9 increase each month instead.
The commission will later provide a written order, that will determine the full impact.
