APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – City of Appleton crews are still cleaning up storm debris and the unplanned work is changing the summer game plan.
Last week residents gathered their debris, this week, crews are picking it all up.
City Communication’s Director Chad Doran says many hours have been spent on cleanup when they would normally be spent doing other summer tasks.
“Crews could be patching potholes and replacing sections of concrete and doing sewer maintenance projects and foresty crews would normally be doing regular tree trimming maintenance around the city.”
Doran says the work needs to be done, so the quicker they finish the quicker they can get back to the other projects.
“Last week our crews were out picking up the biggest tree trunks and branches throughout the city and moving it out of the way in preparation of people bringing it out on the curb.”
However, quite a bit of time has already been spent on this.
“Some of that work will still get done, some may have to be pushed off to later in the year and some will have to get rescheduled.”
Crews will be working for much of this week to finish cleaning up the city.
