SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ) – The investigation into the deaths of Shawano County Brothers Nick and Justin Diemel continues, with many involved in the process.
Although the investigation is being spearheaded in Missouri, Shawano County Sheriff’s Department has had an active role.
“We are just trying to assist as much as possible,” said Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber. “We have given them one of our full-time detectives to work this case and be available for any assistance that they might need.”
He says they also are the ones communicating with the family.
Bieber says he has a good working relationship with Clinton County Sheriff Larry Fish who made a trip to Shawano County over the weekend.
“I met with him and we had breakfast in Bonduel,” he said. “We are doing our best to stay in communication with Missouri.”
He says meeting face to face is helpful and it creates more of a bond.
Sheriff Bieber said afterward they both went to visit members of the family.
“It is a really tough case to work. We are just trying to build relationships with the family and make ourselves available as much as possible. “It is a different role. They have much more work that they need to do on their end.”
He says this case is complex and it will take a while to solve.
“I am learning a lot about the cattle business. There are a lot of rules and regulations that surround the moving and growing of livestock.”
He says even though his department is not leading the investigation like they often do, he feels confident that the family will eventually get the closure that they are looking for.
“We know that this case is in good hands with Sheriff Fish in Missouri.
