ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Ashwaubenon schools might bring a $4.9 million referendum to voters this spring.
The Ashwaubenon School District is considering an operational referendum. The district says the referendum would “continue the quality of current programming and services offered” in the district.
The district sent out a community survey in September, asking Ashwaubenon residents for their input.
Surveys can be mailed in to the district office or completed online until Oct. 17.
The district is proposing a $4.9 million referendum to maintain all current programs and services. That would increase yearly taxes by almost $200 per $100,000 of property value for five years.
A second option is a $3.9 million referendum, which would require a $1 million cut to the district’s budget beginning next school year. This option would increase taxes by $168 per $100,000 of property value for five years.
Without any referendum, the district says it would need to cut up to $4.9 million to balance its budget, beginning next school year.
Survey results will be presented to the school board on Nov. 9.
