GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Brown County Executive is outlining his wish list for the 2023 budget.
Troy Streckenbach talked through it at the Neville Public Museum auditorium Friday.
The tax rate would go down by forty cents. That marks the fourth lowest on record.
A home worth $200,000 would see an $81 reduction on its tax bill.
The property tax levee is expected to be frozen.
The county has around $12 million earmarked for roads and bridge projects. Of that, roughly $8 million will be paid for through the county sales tax.
Streckenbach says state and federal funding would help accomplish the county’s goals.
“We have to have plans, we need to be closer to shovel ready, we need to be able to show that we have skin in the game. Otherwise, we cannot compete with these 3,600 other counties in the United States for those limited dollars even though there’s a lot of money it still is relatively limited when you’re competing against municipalities and counties throughout the United States.”
The Brown County board still needs to approve the budget.
