GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Pierce Manufacturing and the Green Bay Metro Fire Department hosted the 10th annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Lambeau Field on Saturday.
Over 2,000 participants climbed the stairs to honor those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of 2001. The participants climbed an equivalent of 110 stories.
Some participants wore full fire gear while others climbed in more comfortable clothes.
“It’s just really amazing, it’s really cool to see the community come together year after year and to see all the newer faces joining,” said Lt. Shauna Walesh of Green Bay Metro Fire. “Behind me you can see people with gear, without gear, so all walks of life. It’s really a cool thing to see.”
2022 marks 21 years since 343 firefighters died in the line of duty, responding to the terrorist attacks.
