ALGOMA, WI (WTAQ) – Ahnapee Brewery is coming to Suamico.
The new location on Lineville Road east of I-41 will be a taproom and a brewery in the same location.
“There is nothing cooler than being able to see the fermenter and realizing that your beer came from 50 feet away as opposed to not knowing where the brewery is.”
Owner and Head Brewer Nick Calaway says the change was needed.
“We are at capacity right now with our current brewery so it will be exciting to be able to brew 100 percent of our own beers in house.”
Calaway said since he bought the Algoma facility in 2017, they have had to rely on other breweries to brew some of their beers.
He says that means more selections for the taproom and overall better experience.
“We will actually have the production facility and the beer right next door to each other so we can do brew tours and have the beer right there.”
He says the taproom in Algoma will stay.
The addition in Suamico is part of a developing Midwest Expansion that includes 80 new apartments spread over five buildings, a Skaliwags Burger Co. and additional retail space that is still for lease.
“We are excited to pour some fresh, different beers there that we have not been able to do due to space constraints, so we will have some fresh new varieties there.”
It is expected to open in the Spring of 2020.
