MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Manitowoc foundry is creating 80 jobs with its upcoming $20 million expansion.
Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry announced their largest expansion Thursday with the groundbreaking of a 55,000 square-foot addition.
WAF produces aluminum and copper-based alloy castings for a variety of industries. The expansion is intended to accelerate the company’s growth in key markets, particularly with electric vehicles, medical equipment and consumer products.
Before the ceremony, the foundry recognized more than 50 retirees. Throughout the event, WAF also showed its appreciation for its 750 current employees.
“The history and legacy of WAF and its founders, the Schwartz family, have always been to look to the future and the opportunities ahead, and that’s what we’re doing,” said WAF CEO Sachin Shivaram. “The family also understood that the foundry’s success is a result of the team of dedicated employees. Today’s celebration is much more than just celebrating the expansion; it’s about recognizing and honoring our retirees and showing our appreciation and gratitude for current team members.”
Shivaram is the first non-family CEO in the 112-year-old company’s history.
The expansion is expected to be complete next summer.
