GREENVILLE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An annual fundraiser at Appleton International Airport is making a difference for veterans.
The airport has raised $145,000 for the Old Glory Honor Flight. This will allow more veterans to make the trip to Washington D.C. to see memorials built in their honor.
Wednesday’s check presentation comes more than a week after the airport held a “Pulling For Honor” fundraiser.
“Its just an amazing accomplishment — the anxiousness, the excitement, the thrill of those veterans coming in in the morning to the airport, is just amazing,” said Executive Director for Old Glory Honor Flight Diane MacDonald. “They’re excited. They’re so full of appreciation, and that’s what we’re here for is to really appreciate them. For them, it’s a trip of a lifetime, and for us, its a thrill to see these missions get off the ground.”
One hundred more veterans will be going to Washington D.C. on Mission 59 on Oct. 19.
One more additional fundraiser is also set to take place before the end of the year.
