APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – With summer ending as kids head off to school, Appleton is already looking to Christmas and the city announces its 51st Christmas parade.
The Appleton Parade Committee announced that the annual celebration will take place on Nov. 22 at 7 p.m.
Downtown Appleton’s parade is the largest nighttime parade in the Midwest, according to the parade committee. Each year, 80,000 people gather in Appleton to welcome the bands, floats and even Santa Claus.
The committee encourages participants to embrace this year’s theme of “Peace on Earth.”
“What the world needs now is more peace and love,” said Corey Otis, Appleton Parade Committee Chairperson. “We hope the Downtown Appleton Christmas Parade not only entertains and wows but also spreads hope and joy and promise.”
Organizations interested in participating in the parade must submit an application before Oct. 1. Applications can be found online.
