GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) The National Fire Protection Association is reminding people to be cautious during the holiday season.
The NFPA says Christmas is the second-leading day for home fires. They remind people to not leave cooking food unattended.
An average of 160 home fires also started because of a Christmas tree fire.
The NFPA also says to make sure to keep decorations at least three feet away from heat sources.
They also reported heating-equipment is the second-leading cause of U.S. home fires.
To prevent a fire, they say to make sure the equipment is clean.
