GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay saw a higher-than-anticipated voter turnout during the August primary elections.
Officials say the unofficial number of votes cast Tuesday in the city is 15,015. That’s up from 2020, where 14,646 ballots were cast and in 2018, there were 12,102 votes cast.
The voter turnout was so high that the clerk requested additional ballots in 15 of the 59 wards of the city.
The additional ballots were promptly delivered to wards that needed them.
The 59 wards are a result of the Wisconsin State Legislature’s redistricting and subsequent creation of 12 added split wards.
Green Bay also welcomed observers at the polls and at Central Count. Election observers are members of the public who visit polling locations to view the real-time activities of voters, poll workers and other staff. Observers promote transparency and confidence in an election and its results.
