GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Attorneys for former Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Vanden Heuvel want next week’s trial delayed.
Vanden Heuvel is charged with 4 counts: two each of theft and misconduct in office. He’s accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Brown County D.A.R.E. program.
Online court records show that a motion for adjournment was filed earlier this week.
Right now, Vanden Heuvel is due back in court for a final conference Monday. His trial is scheduled to begin Wednesday.
According to the criminal complaint, Vanden Heuvel and volunteer Early Fuller stole money from the D.A.R.E. parking program for 7 years. Officials say they would park cars, give out fake passes and pocket some of the cash.
Fuller is scheduled to stand trial on February 10.
