DE PERE, WI (WTAQ)- Representative Andre Jacque met with Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary Dave Ross on Thursday to discuss the proposed Southern Bridge in De Pere.
“Since I have been in High School, it has been a need for the community.”
The representative says it is important to De Pere for multiple reasons.
“The strain within traffic and also the need to serve the industrial parks on the southern end of the city.”
Jacque said the uncertainty of not having the bridge has led to the loss of economic development.
“(That is) In terms of projects that they had to turn down or projects that could have come to the city.”
Multiple elected officials were also in attendance.
“I think we were pretty well heard today, and hopefully it is a step forward as we look towards the next state budget process.”
Jacque said the idea has been kicked around for a while and he would like to see it take form during the next session.
