GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Green Bay Packers will have 11 training camp practices open to the public this year.
The team announced its training camp schedule Wednesday. Public practices begin on July 27 at Ray Nitschke Field. Times will be announced later.
The first week has three open practices. The second week also has three open practices, culminating with the annual Family Night at Lambeau Field on Aug. 5.
The third week of training camp has three open practices leading up to the first preseason game Aug. 12 against the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California.
Week four of training camp features two joint practices with the New Orleans Saints on Aug. 16 and 17. The Saints and Packers play a preseason game at Lambeau Field on Aug. 19.
Practices are closed the week of Aug. 21, with the final preseason game on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs.
In case of inclement weather, practices will be moved indoors to the Don Hutson Center and closed to the public.
Important dates leading up to the regular season are:
- Friday, July 15: Packers 1K Kids Run (kids 10 years old and younger), presented by Polaris, 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, July 16: Packers 5K Run/Walk, presented by Bellin Health, Lambeau Field, 8 a.m.
- Friday, July 22: Rookie players report
- Monday, July 25: Packers Annual Meeting of Shareholders, 11 a.m.
- Tuesday, July 26: Veteran players report
- Wednesday, July 27: First practice, time TBD, Ray Nitschke Field
- Friday, Aug. 5: Family Night, presented by Bellin Health, Lambeau Field
- Wednesday, Aug. 17: Last practice open to public, time TBD, Ray Nitschke Field
A study from the Greater Green Bay Convention and Visitors Bureau shows Packers training camp could attract as many as 90,000 visitors from across the U.S. and 20 foreign countries.
Packers players will not be staying at St. Norbert College this year because of construction at the college’s residence halls.
