GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A teenage angler can tell quite the fishing story for decades to come.
13-year-old Zach Kohlbeck reeled in a 54-inch musky while fishing with his dad on Green Bay.
Father and son were fishing for walleyes at the time, and were surprised after 22 minutes of fighting to get the catch into the boat.
“It was fun,” said Zach, who called this a once-in-a-lifetime fish. “The pole was bent over completely. I thought it was going to break the pole.”
Zach says he previously caught a musky in Minnesota, but that one was only 12 inches.
He released the fish and it swam away nicely.
Zach says he is going to have a replica made of his catch.
