FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A man was arrested after punching a police officer in Fond du Lac overnight.
Investigators say the man also had drugs in his vehicle.
The episode began around 3:45 a.m. when an officer saw a pickup truck being driven without any license plates. A few minutes later, the officer saw the truck again on Doty Street, just north of W. Johnson Street. By this time, the driver was out pushing the truck.
When the officer went to contact the man, he took off running. Two officers ran after him and eventually caught up with him in a parking lot. When they made contact, the man punched one of the officers and resisted arrest.
The man initially provided police with a false name, officers say.
An inspection of the truck turned up meth and drug paraphernalia.
The 29-year-old Hilbert man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, battery to a law enforcement officer, two counts of bail jumping, resisting/obstructing and his 18th offense of operating while revoked.
The man and the officer were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The man’s name was not released.
