BRUSSELS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Some students at Southern Door High School helped raise money for a new community beehive.
English students published a book called “Door County Land Air Water.”
Proceeds from the book went to the new hive in Sturgeon Bay.
Max Martin, Door County Beekeepers Club President, tells Fox 11 the community hive will be used to educate people about honeybees and beehives.
“We want it to be an educational thing so the community can come out and see the hive, see what it takes to actually have a hive. A lot of people will say they want to keep bees but they’re afraid to take that first step. And maybe this will give them the opportunity to take that first step.”
Through their book sale, the students raised more than $1,700 for the beehive.
