GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police are investigating the death of a 16-month-old girl.
Captain Kevin Warych says officers responded to a local hospital Thursday for an infant who had passed away.
“We learned that the infant had been deceased for an extended period of time and we are not focusing on the investigation, who had last contact with that infant prior to its death.”
Warych says they will be speaking with the infant’s parents today.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning.
It’s not known when those results will be available.
“Investigations like this are very complex. So, once we know the cause of death we’re going to have to re-interview some of the people to determine what we found out from the autopsy,” said Warych.
Police say the deceased infant was in the custody of her mother.
The mother had 3 other children, who are now with child protective services.
