SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A Shawano principal is making a difference by camping out on the school’s roof.
Principal David Kaiser of St. James Lutheran School in Shawano is helping raise $32,000 to replace the school’s worn playground by “living” on the roof for three days.
But in order for Mr. Kaiser to stay on the roof, donations must be given, which will add more time to his new living arrangements.
“My friends and my family and the parents here at St. James, they have a different kind of love for me. If I would tell them that I would want them pay to get me down off the roof, no one would give a dollar, however, I reversed it and said if you want to inflict pain upon me, go ahead and pay to keep me up here,” Kaiser said.
For each $5 donation, Mr. Kaiser will stay on the roof for one minute. For each donation of $350, one hour will be added to keep him up there.

Kaiser says he has a tent and a space heater to help keep warm at night. He also says the community has been very generous and have been dropping off food periodically.
