ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Wisconsin Democrats are meeting in Green Bay for their annual convention.
U.S. Senate candidate Russ Feingold will be one of the featured speakers. He’s trying to win back his old seat from Republican Ron Johnson
And while they’ll be highlighting their own candidates, they’ll also definitely be talking about Donald Trump.
State party chair Martha Laning says beating the presumptive Republican nominee for President will get a lot of attention..
“Donald Trump is an entertainer and a con, and not someone who should be in the oval office. It is such a risk”
House Speaker Paul Ryan has now endorsed Trump — but Laning is betting rank-and-file Republicans won’t, citing his failure in the April primary.
“He lost miserably here in the state of Wisconsin, because Wisconsinites know Donald Trump is not a leader”
The convention begins this evening (Friday) and wraps up Saturday, at the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center in Green Bay.
Wisconsin Republicans held their state convention in downtown Green Bay last month.
