HOUGHTON, MI (WTAQ) – An inmate who escaped from a jail in Upper Michigan and once spotted in Green Bay has been arrested in Costa Rica.
WLUC-TV reports that officials in the U.P. are working to extradite John Wesley Saatio back to the U.S.
The 34-year-old escaped from the Houghton County Jail while he was being returned from a court hearing on June 19, 2015. Saatio was spotted in Green Bay the next day, and Brown County sheriff’s officials also investigated a report that he had been seen in the Flintville area of Suamico on June 23.
Saatio is charged with home invasion, destruction of police property and a probation violation. He’s also a registered sex offender. Saatio is accused of breaking into a Franklin Township home in May 2015.
