APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – The Appleton Police Department officially has a new police chief.
During a ceremony Monday, Todd Thomas was sworn in as the department’s 9th police chief. Thomas has 27 years of law enforcement experience.
For the past 14 years, Thomas was a member of the Green Bay Police Department.
Thomas was born and raised in Appleton, was a graduate of Fox Valley Tech and served as an Appleton Community Service Officer.
He takes over for interim chief James Lewis. Former chief Pete Helein resigned last September, citing health issues.
