GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — The NFL draft is getting underway tonight, and Discover Green Bay President Brad Toll hopes that some day soon we’ll be able to see it here in Green Bay.
The city has been bidding to host the draft for the past few years and only narrowly missed out on hosting the 2024 event. Toll says they have a good argument for hosting it.
“You know, Resch Center is actually bigger than Radio City Music Hall,” as far as seating capacity, and that’s where they had been holding it,” Toll told WTAQ.
There are a lot of elements to hosting such an event.
“Transportation, housing, public works,” explained Toll. “There are a lot of pieces to it.”
Despite the disappointing decision to hold the 2024 event in Detroit instead of here, Toll is confident it will come to Green Bay.
“The draft would be a huge feather in the cap,” Toll said. “It will likely take us a bit to get it, but I’m convinced it’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.”
They’re already working on another bid. Representatives from Green Bay are in Vegas this weekend to observe the production.
