GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Governor Scott Walker waltzed to an easy victory on Tuesday for the partisan primary election but more importantly learned who his Democratic challenger will be in November.
Scott Walker earned 92 percent of the votes in Tuesday’s primary, while Tony Evers also dominated the crowded Democratic field of eight candidates by earning 42 percent of the total votes.
Governor Walker joined the “John Muir Show” on Wednesday morning to discuss both primaries and the upcoming November vote. He claims that he wasn’t surprised by the Democratic outcome.
“I think he had the highest name ID from being on the state-wide ballot before,” said Walker. “I didn’t see any of the other candidates really making much of a difference.”
A hot-topic leading towards the November election will be budget questions, especially school funding. Walker claims he’ll be glad to field any attacks on the issue and deflect them back on his competitor.
“My star-witness is going to be Tony Evers himself,” said Walker. “I mean he said it, we’ve put more money in his agency than they request.”
He went on to claim that his competition is relying on outside forces to dictate their moves.
“Tony Evers and his allies really align with the unions,” explained Walker. “The unions have told him what to do in this regard in the past and I’m sure they’ll tell him what to do again now.”
Governor Walker has already challenged Evers to two debates over the next three months, which the Democratic challenger has yet to respond too.
