GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The latest North Korean missile launch, right over neighboring Japan, has put the unsettled situation in that part of the world back on the front burner.
Wisconsin’s 8th District Congressman Mike Gallagher says this comes at a time when the U-S military is not at full strength.
“With two destroyers out of commission in the Pacific, our own capabilities are significantly degraded.”
Gallagher says the U-S can respond with increasing economic pressure on North Korea.
“The administration, and the Treasury Department in particular, has begun to impose greater pressure on Chinese banks doing business in North Korea.”
But he’s also inclined to show a little more muscle.
“Knocking one of these missiles out of the sky the next time he conducts a test like this as a demonstration of our capability and resolve.”
Gallagher also says the actions and posture taken by Kim Jong-un make a pretty good case why Congress needs to beef up defense spending.
