APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Appleton residents got some answers to everything they ever wanted to know about raising chickens Sunday.
The very first “Coop Tour” was hosted at five homes in the city.
People could check out the different coop styles and meet over a dozen breeds.
The free event was hosted by “City Peeps.” The group was founded in 2011 and believes backyard chickens made wonderful pets.
Shannon Kenevan is City Peeps co-founder….and spoke to FOX 11…
“They’re just fun to watch. They’re entertaining. They’re fairly easy to care for and then to get eggs on top of it, which you just don’t get anything like that from any other pet. It’s just a wonderful benefit.”
In April, the city’s common council voted to allow chickens in Appleton.
Residents are allowed to own up to four hens and no roosters.
