OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) -One person was rescued from an upstairs back window after a fire burned apartment buildings in Oshkosh. Another person escaped but the Oshkosh Fire Department said both were taken to the hospital.
Just after 1 a.m. Saturday, firefighters were called to 145 High Avenue for heavy smoke coming from the building and filling the street.
Firefighters started to put out the flames from inside the building but intense heat and falling debris forced them outside. Fire crews managed to get the fire under control around 5:30 a.m.
The building was home to a salon on the first floor and six apartment buildings above.
Officials have not released the cause of the fire.
