FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – The Fond du Lac community has welcomed back a firefighter who recently wrapped up his fourth active military-duty deployment with a special ceremony.
Master Sergeant Shawn Kneeland returned last month from an eight month deployment that took him to places like Mosul, Iraq, and Syria.
Kneeland is part of the Wisconsin Air National Guard’s 115th fighter wing out of Madison. He says his mission was to open up new bases in those areas.
“When we come back, it makes us feel like the mission that we are doing is well worth it. Having everyone come out and show their support really makes the transition a lot easier.”
Kneeland is a lieutenant at fire station three on Fond du Lac’s west side.
