FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) – A new state-of-the-art facility for a Fond du Lac company was showcased on Thursday.
Community members toured the newly constructed NVH (Noise, Vibration, Harshness) facility for Mercury Marine.
There are special areas to study noise, vibration and harshness characteristics within the 2.5 million-square-foot facility.
“Some engines we want to be perfectly quiet when they’re at idle or at 0 percent knots and speed,” said Mercury Marine president, John Pfeifer. “There’s other performance engines that we make where the consumers want a little bit of a V8 hum.”
Additional office space is also featured within the two-story building.
Construction on the $10 million expansion project began in April.
Mercury Marine has invested more than $800 million in expansion and research and development since 2009.
