OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – A local school is taking part in a new initiative aimed at boosting state exports and foreign investment in Wisconsin.
UW-Oshkosh is teaming with the state’s economic development corporation in the $1.2-million dollar effort, which is the first of it’s kind in Wisconsin.
“This is important for our companies; most of the purchasing power is outside the United States. So we are looking to bridge that gap, identify markets that these companies can start selling into, and potentially bring in some foreign investments back into Wisconsin.”
UW-Oshkosh’s Colleen Merrill says the school will be in charge of distributing grant funds to qualifying non-profit organizations.
WEDC has awarded UW-Oshkosh with $650-thousand dollars, which will be matched by other agencies, to cover the initiative.
