APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Five people are hurt after a crash in Appleton Thursday night.
Multiple vehicles were involved, including two cement trucks.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-41 at North Richmond St.
Officials say an SUV rear-ended a semi truck on I-41 northbound. Both vehicles pulled over on the shoulder to get out of the way of traffic.
As vehicles passed the initial crash scene, officials say a cement truck struck a Honda Accord.
The driver of the car, a 20-year-old Kimberly man, was transported with non life-threatening injuries. Three passengers in the car also suffered non life-threatening injuries.
The 50-year-old Hortonville man driving the cement truck was not hurt.
Authorities say while first responders dealt with the crashes on the northbound lane, a Ford Contour traveling southbound at Richmond St. slammed into another cement truck and was then hit by a Ford Fusion.
The 40-year-old Appleton woman driving the Ford Contour suffered life-threatening injuries.
The 60-year-old Pulaski man driving that cement truck was not hurt. The driver of the Ford Fusion was also not hurt.
The southbound lanes were closed for about 90 minutes.
The lanes reopened around 7:45 p.m.
