APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – It’s a chance for the public to see how various levels of law enforcement, firefighters, and paramedics respond to critical situations.
Fox Valley Technical College will be hosting their first Public Safety Day Saturday, August 13 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Spokesperson, Chris Jossart, says there’s a lot of exciting demonstrations that will be happening.
“Responding to a car fire, a rope repelling exercise. We’ll have some other first response type drills going on. There will be a drone event going on as well.”
The 75-acre training facility opened in January of 2015 as part of a successful referendum that Fox Valley Tech had in 2012.
“It really is a gorgeous facility, 75-acres, and it was built to accommodate the integrative training needs of fire, police and EMS folks to train together in today’s world of public safety, which is so critical,” says Jossart.”
The Public Safety Training Center is used to train the FBI, Department of Justice, and up to 20,000 public safety practitioners a year.
The event is free to the public and will take place at W6400 County Road BB in Appleton.
