The Green Bay Phoenix men’s basketball team dropped it’s 10 straight game in their home finale Sunday at the Kress, losing to Cleveland State 79-67. With Oakland losing on Sunday, the Vikings wrapped up the Horizon League regular season title on GB’s floor. The Phoenix hung with the senior laden champs for 30 of the 40 minutes before extreme ball pressure led to a handful of turnovers and missed shots allowing the Vikings to build the lead. Tre Gromillion who averages 9 points a game, went off for a game high 27 for Cleveland State. Green Bay (4-23. 3-15) was led by Cade Meyer with 20, Kamari McGee added 16. The Phoenix will play their final two regular season games on the road at UIC and IUPUI this week.
Green Bay Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur and his family were in attendance, sitting behind the Cleveland State bench. Turns out, LaFleur’s nephew, Jayson Woodrich, plays on the Vikings.
