APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – Officials with Marcus Theaters say that Appleton’s Valley Value Cinema will close after Labor Day.
The last business day for the cinema at 2165 S. Memorial Drive will be on September 7.
Officials cite the limited availability of 35 mm film in the market. With the venue not bringing in enough attendance, the cost to upgrade the theater with digital projection technology would be too expensive.
The 14 employees at Valley Value will be offered jobs at Marcus’ other theaters in the area.
People can still enjoy movies at the Appleton East and Hollywood Cinemas locations.
